My story

There is an adorable video of me on TikTok. Click here to experience the cuteness! Miss Missy is a bright and enthusiastic pup enrolled in our Shelter Scholars program, where she's working on developing better manners and learning how to engage with the world in a polite and thoughtful way. Through structured enrichment, confidence-building exercises, and stress-reducing activities, Miss Missy is practicing skills like polite greetings, patience, and calm interactions. Using positive reinforcement training, she's making great strides in learning when to engage, when to wait, and how to respond to exciting situations with grace! My previous foster writes: Miss Missy has been such a pleasure to have in my home. She is a very sweet loving girl that enjoys butt rubs, head rubs and giving the occasional wet kiss on my cheek! She loves to lounge on the couch for her naps or rest her head in my lap while we watch tv. Occasionally when Miss Missy is feeling a little bossy; she'll take her nose and pick my hand up to give her some head rubs! She even knows cues such as sit, lay down and paw. This wonderful lil lady is also house trained and has never gone potty inside. This is my first time fostering and Miss Missy has been a delight and the ideal dog!A Volunteer writes: Miss Missy will woo you with her affection and adorable habit of sitting on cue for treats. She knows "sit" and "paw" and, at just over a year old, has so much potential to learn more in a foster or forever home! An easy walker, even for new volunteers, she loves exploring on long walks and sometimes rolls in the grass. This silly girl has even been spotted snoring in her kennel. As one of the shelter's long-timers, she dreams of a real home to snooze in. For now, Miss Missy should be the only pet.My #BoroughBreak Buddy Writes: Miss Missy was a very good girl! A few things I noticed on our walk was she was reactive to other dogs, car sounds, and men specifically, and a bit of a leash puller. She's a very strong girl! She took her treats well and liked to lean her weight into us. Next time I will hope to take her indoors and get to socialize with her more as she was a little overwhelmed and on alert at all times with her surroundings outside. My #BoroughBreak Buddy Writes: We took a nice car ride, she enthusiastically explored the apartment smelling where all the dogs had been before but quickly settled in to watching me make some lunch, we played with dog toys and snuggled on the sofa and gave lots of kisses. She was immediately VERY affectionate wanting pets, belly rubs and cuddles. We took a nice nap on the sofa together and then played some more. She has the SOFTEST most velvety ears. Primary Color: Tan Weight: 61.25 Age: 6yrs 4mths 2wks
