If you would like more information about Sweet Pea or are interested in fostering or adopting her, please send an email to ptempleton02@gmail.com Just before the hard freeze, I found this sweet stray girl on February 19th, right off the highway near Aldine. She’s a medium-sized female with a beautiful, short blonde and white coat. She appears to be a Lab/German Shepherd mix around 18 months old. Unfortunately, she didn’t have a collar or any tags. I took her to Stuebner Airline Veterinary Hospital to check for a microchip, but none was found. While there, I also made sure she received all of her vaccinations. I learned she is heartworm positive, so we’ve started her on Tri-Heart Plus as a preventive step while trying to get her the help she needs. I also gave her flea and tick medication and proper cleaning and grooming. Sweet Pea is gentle, friendly, and sociable with both people and other dogs. She is very quiet and rarely ever barks or whines. I've seen absolutely no signs of aggression, and she has a sweet and calm temperament. She loves to lay on her back and loves belly rubs; she doesn't mind being touched anywhere. She is not at all food aggressive. She eats and drinks and loves to play. She especially loves to chew on things, probably due to teething. I have gotten her bones and harder stimulating toys for her! She does have a limp in her back right leg. The vet believes she may have a slight tear in her meniscus, so she’ll need a little extra care and attention. However, the vet also said it could heal on its own if given a proper combination of rest and slight exercise.
