My story

Meet Chief! A lively four-and-a-half-year-old German Shepherd/Labrador Retriever mix currently living in Alhambra, CA, whose zest for life is as golden as his gorgeous coat. With a striking white patch on his neck and chest, this 70-pound bundle of energy is always ready for his next great adventure—preferably one that involves running, fetching, and playing with his fellow canine friends! Chief is the kind of dog who thrives on companionship. He’s incredibly friendly, whether he’s meeting new people, greeting other dogs, or simply soaking up the love from young children. Even cats don’t ruffle his feathers—he’s neutral toward them, content to let them do their own thing while he focuses on his favorite pastime: playing! Give him a ball, a wide-open space, and a playmate, and you’ll see pure joy in motion! This bright boy already knows a few impressive tricks, including sit, paw, lay down, and even "bring toy"—which means he’s well on his way to mastering even more commands with a little patience and positive reinforcement. He’s eager to learn and has all the makings of a well-trained companion for someone who’s ready to help him reach his full potential. Like many dogs who form strong bonds with their people, Chief experiences some separation anxiety when left alone for long periods. He’s happiest when he has company, whether it’s human or canine, and would do best with a family who has the time and space to keep up with his active lifestyle. A home with a yard and a pet parent who enjoys outdoor adventures would be a perfect match for this athletic and affectionate pup. One thing is for certain—Chief is going to bring more happiness into your life than you expect. With his boundless energy, loving nature, and sharp mind, he’s ready to become a cherished part of a family who can give him the active, love-filled home he needs. Could that be you? To meet Chief and bring home a new best friend, reach out to adopt@joyfulpets.com!

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Chief, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
