My story

Meet Toffee – Sweet, Spunky & One of a Kind! ?? Toffee is a 2-year-old Akita mix with a heart full of love and a personality that shines! She came to us under unusual circumstances—brought in as a “stray,” but later confirmed to be someone’s dog. Despite that rocky start, Toffee hasn’t let it dull her sparkle!This treat-motivated girl is eager to learn and always ready for a snack. She’s still working on her leash manners and tends to get a little bouncy when excited, but it’s all part of her goofy, affectionate charm.Toffee does great in playgroups with male and female dogs, and recently had a blast playing with a buddy named Shep. Her play style is a bit rough-and-tumble, so she’d thrive with a dog her size or larger who can match her energy. She can be slightly possessive over high-value items like sticks or water bowls, but listens well when corrected.Toffee is not suited for a home with cats—she fixates and has trouble redirecting her attention, even when the cat walks away. However, she’s been very gentle with children of all ages, though she sometimes jumps up when a parent picks their child up (never out of aggression).Toffee also has double hip dysplasia, which is currently being managed with water therapy, joint supplements, and pain medication.
