Meet Toffee – Sweet, Spunky, and Ready to Steal Your Heart!Say hello to Toffee, a 2-year-old Akita mix with a big personality and an even bigger heart! Toffee came to the Saint Charles County Pet Adoption Center under unusual circumstances—she was brought in as a `stray` by her owner`s significant other, who later revealed she was actually their dog. Despite the rocky start, Toffee hasn’t let it dim her sparkle one bit.This girl is treat-motivated to the max, which makes training a breeze. She’s not really into toys, but offer her a snack and you’ll have her full attention! She’s still working on leash manners and can get a little jumpy when she’s excited—but it’s all part of her goofy, affectionate charm.Toffee recently met another dog named Shep and greeted him with playful enthusiasm. Her play style is a bit rough-and-tumble, so she`d do best with a dog her size or larger who can handle her energy. She does well in playgroups with both male and female dogs, and while she can get possessive over sticks or the water bowl, she listens when corrected and backs off appropriately.Cats? Not so much. Toffee tends to fixate on them and struggles to redirect her attention—even when a cat hisses or walks away, she stays laser-focused. Because of this, a cat-free home is best for her.Toffee would thrive in an active home with people who can continue her training, keep up with her fun-loving energy, and give her the consistency and love she deserves.
