My story

Dixon is a dark brown tabby with luminous green eyes. He is handsome in both looks and personality. Dixon craves attention and likes to be in the center of what's happening; anything is fine as long as it's with a person. After he hasn't seen his human for a while, whether just an hour or all day, he demands some uninterrupted "Dixon time" with full on attention, pets, cuddles and head butts. After this, he is chill and ready to hang out or play. Dixon gets along with other cats and gets along well with his foster sister Dixie, but could be adopted as an only cat. In his ideal home, Dixon would be with people for most of the day, not left on his own too much, allowed to sleep in bed with his humans, and get some good play time chasing feather toys. Dixon and Dixie were on the streets together for quite a while before finding the back door of their foster Mom's house. Due to his time on the streets, he was quite underweight, and after rescue, Dixon did not self-regulate his food intake with free-feeding. He pretty quickly gained too much weight which he is steadily losing now on a schedule of multiple small feedings per day- he still has a way to go, and portion control is likely a permanent need for his best health and weight. All of his "requirements" make him sound a little high maintenance, and he is totally worth it!

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Dixon, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
