My story

Female 4 yrs old 40 pounds Beagle/Hound Mix Precious Petunia....her story begins in Honduras where 100's of dogs and cats were abandoned at a shelter. The conditions they were living in were horrible. Many dogs did not make it. Luckily for Petunia and 100's of other dogs, they did survive. A group of women got together and decided to get each and every one of the dogs and cats into the USA and into rescue's that would address their medical/emotional needs. The story of this large scale rescue effort can be found on our Facebook page "Me and My Shadow Dog Rescue". Scroll down our posts to March of 2024 which is when this effort started. Even the Disney channel got involved and made a couple of episodes covering some of the special needs dogs. Petunia is a very loving, gentle girl. She loves with all of her heart and her big brown eyes melt your heart. She has been through so much and yet, she is a happy go lucky dog. She is timid when first meeting her but that goes away once she realizes that she is loved and safe. After that…she will always want to be near you – not in a needy way but a loving way.
