My story

Chelsea is the sweetest little sausage-shaped girl with a heart as big as her love for her people. This adorable pit bull and corgi mix has short, stubby legs that give her the cutest, most unique look – and her shiny brown coat with darker brown highlights on her muzzle just adds to her charm! Found as a stray in southern Illinois and once placed on the euthanasia list, Chelsea's future was looking uncertain. But when the rescue saw her little legs and big personality, they knew they had to step in and find her the loving home she deserves. Although Chelsea once had a family, they abandoned her when she showed up as a stray, leaving her heartbroken. But once you meet her, you’ll quickly see how deeply she bonds with her people. Chelsea is a sensitive girl who attaches quickly and loves nothing more than to be by your side, offering companionship and affection. She may be a little shy at first, vocalizing her concerns while her tail wags enthusiastically, but once she knows you’re her person, she’s yours forever. Chelsea gets along well with other dogs, though she prefers calm introductions to new furry friends. She’s also good with the resident cat, keeping a respectful distance and curiously observing. While Chelsea hasn’t been around children on a regular basis, their unpredictable movements can make her uneasy, so she’d do best in a home with no young children or where kids' visits are limited. This sweet girl enjoys a routine that starts with a little meditation in the morning (aka her quiet time), followed by a long walk to explore the neighborhood. She’s the queen of the block and loves to be out and about. When she’s feeling playful, Chelsea has bursts of energy that lead to zoomies, and she’ll even army crawl to get your attention! She’s a people pleaser at heart and always aims to make you smile, even crawling to you with a grin if she thinks she’s in trouble or senses you’re upset. Chelsea is also an angel in her crate, which she uses as her safe space when new people come around. Chelsea is a true companion who will change her routine to match yours and thrive on the love and attention she receives.
