My story

Torti-tude: slang term referring to the perceived sassy strong-willed, and independent personality often associated with tortoiseshell cats. If you have never met a Tortoiseshell cat before, Loxli is a great example! She is extremely sweet and curious to the people she likes and trusts. However, if someone causes her any fear, pain, or maybe just annoyance, Loxli is not afraid to show her Tortitude. She will not tolerate disrespect and will act accordingly. Don't get us wrong, Loxli tolerates quite a bit (as far as cats go) and doesn't have many reasons to throw around her attitude. She just defends herself more readily when other cats might not. We think Loxli is very admirable for standing up for herself and how she feels! This girl came into rescue from a home who loved her dearly, but had too many cats in her care with too few resources. Because of this, it makes sense why Loxli is so good at communicating her feelings and needs. Like many cats, she is prone to hiding at first, but pops out to test the waters with a chirp or two. She warms up fairly quickly after that, and chats about her day while she rubs up against whatever is closest to her. Loxli seems to not mind being in a home with other cats. The cats she came into rescue with don't bother her, but she doesn't seek them out necessarily either. We're not certain if there were dogs in her previous home or not, but with an appropriate introduction period, we haven't seen anything that would suggest she couldn't live with a well mannered dog or two. Loxli wouldn't do well in a home with young children, but older ones who can learn how to respect when Loxli tells us she doesn't like something. If you're interested in Loxli, please contact A.W.W. by calling or texting 715-501-3000, emailing at rescue.aww@gmail.com, messaging our Facebook page, or visit our website www.animalwelfarewi.org to fill out an adoption application under our Services and Adopt pages.
