My story

Storm is a 3.5-year-old female terrier mix who came to the shelter as an owner surrender. During her play test, Storm showed no interest in toys or engaging with the handler, but in time, we are hopeful she will thrive with patience and some TLC. She is reported to have no issues with food or resource guarding during her evaluation here, but it`s important to note that in her previous home, she did guard food, toys, and her bed. Storm is cautious and fearful of strangers at first but once shes comfortable she becomes friendly. She knows basic cues like sit and come and would do best in a home where she can receive a quiet and structured environment. Due to her history of guarding, she is not recommended for a home with other dogs. Storm’s leash skills are still a work in progress as she mildly pulls on the leash. Given her reserved nature and history of guarding, Storm would be best suited for an adult-only home with experienced dog owners who can offer her a calm and patient environment to build her confidence. If you are interested in learning more contact our placement team at the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter:E: Adoption@hempsteadny.govE: Foster@hempsteadny.govE: Rescue@hempsteadny.govT. 516.785.5220#Adoptashelteranimal #shelteranimalsrock #animalphotography #longislandpetparents #newyorkcity #longisland #LIdog #LIanimalshelter #adoption #adoptme #myforeverbestfriend #mansbestfriend #womansbestfriend #stunningpup #puppies #lookingforahome #upforadoption #dogsrock #dog
