My story

Meet Elfie! 2-year-old, 58 lb. spayed Pit Bull mix from the City of Buffalo Shelter. Looking for the ultimate snuggle buddy? A friendly, loving, and smart companion? Elfie is your girl! Sometimes we call her Bagel because we often find her curled up like a little bagel… with just a touch of cream cheese! Why You’ll Love Elfie: The Best Snuggle Buddy – Elfie absolutely LOVES to cuddle up on the couch with her favorite people. She’s affectionate, sweet, and always ready for cozy time. Smart & Eager to Learn – She’s food motivated and already a master at sit and down. She takes treats gently and listens well. House & Crate Trained – She sleeps in her crate at night and can be crated when you’re out, but she’s well-behaved and doesn’t get into trouble. Dog-Friendly & Social – Elfie loves meeting new people and dogs! She gets SUPER excited when she sees another dog and whines because she just wants to say hello! A meet and greet with any potential dog siblings is recommended to make sure it’s a good fit, as she’s energetic and loves to play.*She has met young kids (around 6-7 years old) and did well, but she’s still learning to keep all four paws on the ground when excited! Loves Walks & Adventures – Elfie enjoys walks, loves to sniff, and keeps a fast pace. But she is strong and can pull hard when she sees another dog—she just can’t contain her excitement! A strong handler and some basic leash training will help her manage her enthusiasm. Independent & Trustworthy – When she’s not snuggling, she’s happy to entertain herself with enrichment toys, look out the window, or relax. She’d love a fenced-in yard to zoom around in! Plus, she’s great in the car and always up for an adventure. Fun Fact:Elfie makes the cutest little noises when she yawns—it’s like she sings! (Maybe after Elphaba? ) Health Note:Elfie tested positive for Lyme disease when she first entered foster care, but after completing treatment, she’s ready for a healthy future! She’ll just need routine vet care and tick prevention—something all dogs should have anyway! Compatibility with cats is unknown. Someone is going to be so lucky to have Elfie in their life.
