My story

Kiara (Kiki)  is a Whippet Mix thought to be about 2 years old.  She was found with tape around her muzzle, which resulted in a hairless discolored stripe on the top of her snout. Thankfully, this has since healed, and the pink color has almost disappeared.   Regardless of this terrible act, she loves people and other dogs.   She currently lives in a home with 2 adults, 2 teenagers, and 2 dogs (a large and a medium sized which are more submissive).   After about 3 weeks everyone found their places in the pack.  She enjoys chasing, running and tugging.  She will chew on bones all day long if you let her,  and generally leaves non-dog items alone.  Kiara is potty trained.  If she has a rare accident, it is always because we didn't follow her routine.  She will bark at the door when she needs to go out.   She is kennel trained; when first here, she would bark for about 3-5 minutes before settling down.   After about 3 weeks, she has become a perfect kennel dog.  She has a soft kennel mat and chew toys, and goes right in when told to "kennel up." She sleeps in the kennel in a separate room but has on occasion been welcomed in to sleep with her humans, which she loved.  She LOVES car rides and does super well.   She has been learning how to walk on a leash.   She does well if kept at the hip but given too much slack she will lunge to say hi to anybody passing.  She does not mind wearing a jacket or boots.    Kiara has a few areas where she has been working on manners.    She likes to counter surf, especially when any food is present.  She has been better at listening to “OFF” and self-correcting.  She likes to play with whatever toy the other dogs are playing with and politely steals bones and balls.  Over the first month of being here, she has gotten TONS better with sharing, and stealing is now minimal.   She does jump with excitement, Tigger bouncing up to 4 feet straight up.   She does not, however, jump up onto things (like the couch or into the car), choosing to adorably crawl up instead.   She has never made any attempt to jump towards/over a fence.   Overall, Kiara is an ABSOLUTE delight who quickly attaches to humans.  She would love a yard to run in and a lap to lay on.  Could this be you? Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue.
