My story

Greetings world. I am ZOEY and here is some info about me:Breed: Golden Retriever/Lab mixAge: 3-1/2 yearsGender: FemaleWeight: 25 kgHeight: 60 cmCountry of Origin: LebanonHighlights: friendly, playful, energetic I am an extremely friendly girl. Hence my name which means life. Life is a joy.Two years ago my rescuers came across me, when my owners dumped me in their neighborhood. I had a large scar on my head that had healed over, and I was all skin and bone. Desperate for human attention and affection, I would run up to those passing by. Being so friendly and charming, the animal lovers in the hood looked after me. I captured the hearts of many who tried desperately to find me an adopter or foster, sharing my story on social media.I'd wait by the lobby of a residential complex for my daily walks with people and dogs I had developed friendships with. Alas, though I was looked after, I wasn’t safe. Residents who were not comfortable with my presence threatened to poison or shoot me. One night, I was taken away by someone on a motorcycle. My friends were devastated and had no idea where Iwas. They looked for weeks.After weeks of this search, they came across a woman who was feeding stray dogs and described me as best they could, with my identifying scar, and hoped she would one day come across me. 5 months later, she contacted my soon to be rescuer saying she spotted a dog fitting my description. It was me alright. My rescuer rushed to the location, only this time, she ensured I would be in a safe place. It was an emotional reunion for us all. So, I have been living with my foster mom for 2 years now.I enjoy playing and cuddling with my foster brother. I still even love meeting people on my walks. Despite my difficult past, whoever hurt me and gave me this scar, I remain loving and trusting of people. I fairly much ignore kitties, so likely I can co-habitate with one. Playing with dogs I know or my toys is a fun pastime. Always up for a cuddle and nap with my foster brother though.Currently, I am living in a very overstimulating environment - overcrowded and populated city central, where I encounter a range of stimuli such as high congestion, loud traffic, honking cars, barking dogs, trucks and sirens, etc...  I can be vocal when over aroused and stressed. Given a change in environment to lower stress situations and some counter-conditioning and reassurances, my stress levels and anxiety will be greatly relieved. I do walk well on a leash, noting I am inclined to pull when over aroused in high stimulus environments though. Slow introductions are best.So, if you like hiking and other high energy activities, I'm just the girl to take along. Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs.Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. While most dogs find escorting passengers flying directly to Vancouver, some will find flights through Toronto or  Montreal. In that case, additional fees will apply to fly your dog to Vancouver by cargo. Unaccompanied cargo costs within Canada range from $350 - $550 depending on the size of the dog. LALDR will be as transparent as possible with you regarding these costs. [MID-EAST] *Vaccinations: Dogs from the Middle East are vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemper, leptospirosis, adenovirus type 1 and para-influenza.
