My story

Sheena is a darling Maltese Poodle mix who thinks the world should revolve solely around her. In fact she has a unique ability to make all other dogs seem invisible in her ideal world. She wants to be the center of your universe and if you have other plans, she will happily remind you otherwise. Some may compare it to “only child syndrome.” In return for your undivided attention, Sheena will worship you more than parishioners would of the leader of their cult. She will stay by your side and love you with every ounce of her 15 lb body. Sheena isn’t sure how she ended up in a rescue when we know her devotion to her former owner must have been unparalleled. She is certain that if you give her a chance to bond with you, she will love you forever. She needs someone home more often than not, as she learns how to be alone and grow her independence and confidence. She is fine with or without other dogs, as long as she has humans to dote on her! What can we say...she loves hard! Like many of our rescue dogs, We are not sure how well housetrained Sheena is. But with gentle persuasion, some consistency, structure and praise she should be easy to train. Sheena is a coated dog (hair grows continuously) and will need professional grooming every 6-8 weeks Sheena’s adoption fee is $450 This fee includes at least one health exam at our veterinarian while in our care, altering, all vaccinations including rabies (as permitted by age), a pre-adoption professional grooming and a microchip with lifetime membership that never will cost you a fee. All dogs also leave with a new collar and or harness and leash as well as a gift bag which includes among other things, a starter bag of the quality kibble that is being fed at the rescue. Adoption fees also allow us the ability to put funds towards the next homeless or unwanted dog in need of rescue! Please understand that sometimes we get numerous applications for specific dogs and as a volunteer-based rescue, we do not always have the time to respond to each one. We do our best to choose the most suitable home for each dog based on their specific personality and needs. Please note you MAY NOT be contacted for up to 10 days to schedule a meet and greet if your family is the most suitable for this rescue dog. Regrettably, we do not have the manpower currently to contact all applicants. We keep ALL applications in our database so please feel free to contact us when you see another dog of interest. We appreciate all applicants and do our best to pair every dog and family for a successful and happy life.
