My story

Sally Mae has shown us what patience, love, compassion and trust will do for a dog.. Her previous owner dumped her in the rural country side during a Midwest blizzard with below freezing temperatures. After days of searching, we finally trapped her with some help, and she was safe at last. Once in our care, she was shut down, wasn't interested in meeting new people, or even going outside. She was scared, hurt, and traumatized by her last owner. Sally Mae has made leaps and bounds from that mental state, and now you will always find her meeting you at her door, tail wagging, just so excited to see you. She comes off shy to new people, but warms up very fast when she knows she's safe. She LOVES to put her paws up to give you hugs and will just hold them there like a human hug. We think she finds it calming!

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Sally Mae, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
