Excerpt from “The Adventures of Daisy the Brave” Chapter 5: The Search for a Forever Friend Once upon a trailhead, nestled between snow-capped peaks and sunlit forests, lived a young husky mix named Daisy. With eyes the color of frozen lakes and a coat kissed by shadows and sun (black, tan, and white, to be exact), Daisy was not just any pup—she was born to roam, explore, and love deeply. At only 1½ years old, Daisy had already mastered the art of adventure. Each morning, she stretched her long legs, ready to run 3–5 miles and beyond, dreaming of mountain trails and open meadows. But don’t worry—after her daily expedition, she’s more than happy to curl up with her favorite squirrel toy, belly up, head resting gently on your lap. Daisy is: Leash-trained (though she’s got some serious husky horsepower!) Potty trained with her own language (a polite whine means “excuse me, nature calls”) Comfortable being left alone (no crate needed, no mischief found) Obsessed (and we mean obsessed) with making dog friends, big or small A gentle soul around kids, though she’s still a bit shy with the tiny ones She knows all the good words like sit, down, off, come, and no, and she responds beautifully to structure. Give her a bully stick, some love, or a squirrel-shaped toy, and she’ll reward you with a smile (yes, dogs can smile), tail wags, and a whole lot of heart. Her only quest yet to be completed? Finding her forever adventure partner. Someone to take her running, hiking, maybe even skiing. Someone who understands the joy of a wild spirit and the peace of shared quiet moments. Someone whose life could use a little more dog hair and a whole lot more joy. Is that someone... you? Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure Daisy Aurora finds the best possible home, we ask you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application in the order submitted and will contact you within 48 hours (please check your spam folder for our emails) . If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives! A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you. The adoption fee for this pet is $375. Our adoption fee covers the following: Spay/neuter Microchip DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for all vaccinations after adoption. Please fill out an adoption application by clicking here . Please give us 48 hours to review your application and respond to you. (Remember to check your spam folder for our emails!) We want our pets to go to a lifelong new home, so thank you for your patience during the adoption process! Please email dogs@arrcolorado.org for more information, as we can't accept calls. PLEASE NOTE: The breed listed is the information we've received from the shelter. Shelters usually guess at the breed, so there is no guarantee, as we don't DNA test our foster pets. Here is some interesting info on breed identification: https://arrcolorado.org/category/puppy-dog-tips/ Our adoption process is: 1. Fill out our Adoption Application online. We'll contact you within 48 hours to answer any questions you may have about the pet. 2. If the pet looks like a great match, we'll schedule a meet and greet and ask you to fill out our online Adoption Agreement if you'd like to proceed with adopting. Once you've completed the Adoption Agreement and pay the pet's Adoption Fee, you can arrange to pick up your new furry family member! June 10, 2025, 8:26 pm
