My story

Sweet Cocoa will Warm your Heart! Hi there, I’m Cocoa! Just like a warm cup of hot cocoa on a chilly day, I’m here to bring comfort, sweetness, and joy to your life. I’m a 1-year-old, 37-pound, healthy Shepherd mix. My journey started in Rosarito, where my siblings and I were abandoned as puppies. A kind woman took us in and cared for us in her backyard until we were ready for foster care. I spent my first year living outside in tough conditions, but now, I’m getting my first sip of the good life—and it’s delicious! I can be a little shy and reserved at first… think of me as that first sip of cocoa when it’s still too hot. But give me a little time to cool down, and I’ll melt right into you! Once I warm up, I’m affectionate, loving, and always ready to give kisses. I’m incredibly gentle and have never shown an ounce of aggression, even when I’m feeling nervous. Since I lived outside for so long, I’m still learning how to play with toys and other dogs, but I’m catching on quickly! I may not have had formal training, but I’m a natural when it comes to being a good girl. I’ve never had an accident in the house, and I always wait to go outside! I sleep in my crate, though I do tend to chew on anything inside (I’m still figuring things out). I might cry for the first few minutes, but I settle down. I’m working on commands like “sit” and “lay down,” and while I’m not quite perfect yet, I do understand when it’s time to go to my crate. I sometimes pick up things I shouldn’t chew on, but I don’t destroy anything. I’m slowly but surely learning how to be a domesticated doggo and I’m making great pawgress. Why should you pick me? Because I’m a calm, gentle, and loving pup who’s ready to find a furever home where I can truly flourish. I do great with kids and other dogs, and I’m eager to bond with my new family! If you’re looking for a sweet, comforting, and loyal companion to warm your heart, I’m your Cocoa! My adoption fee is $400 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip. If you want to take me home, please fill out the form on the website here: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/ ##2296976##

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Cocoa 2, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
