My story

Some dogs you just know are special. The moment we laid eyes on Rosy’s shelter intake photo, we were hooked. Honestly, it was like she had a magnetic force field around her face—one that we couldn’t ignore, no matter how hard we tried. Thankfully, her foster mom got hit with the same cosmic wave of irresistible charm and decided to take her in, proving that we all have impeccable taste. And spoiler alert: we were right. Rosy is not only gorgeous, but she’s probably the sweetest and most lovable dog you’ll ever meet—so if you don’t like cuddles, you're officially in the wrong place. Rosy is a 1-year-old, 41lb Sheltie mix with more charm than a box of puppies. She's pretty much good with everything—dogs, cats, kids, you name it. When it comes to other dogs, she’s your go-to playmate. Whether it’s playtime, hanging out, or just making everyone feel like life is one big puppy party, she’s all in. As for cats? Well, Rosy’s a little into the idea of giving them a chase now and then, but it’s not because she’s plotting anything sinister. Nope, she just can’t help her herding instincts. She’s basically like, “Come on, I’m just trying to get you in line!” When it comes to kids, she’s an absolute fan. Now, when we say kids, we mean teenagers who’ve basically mastered the art of speaking fluent Dog. She’s never been around little ones, but judging by her gentle nature and need to shower everyone with affection, she’d probably be fine with younger kids—if your kid doesn’t mistake her for a jungle gym or shove their hands in places they shouldn’t, she’ll probably be just as obsessed with the younger crowd as she is with her doggie friends Rosy’s energy level is an 8 out of 10, which means she’s always ready to roll—whether it's road trips, visits to the local café, or hiking like she’s training for the doggy Olympics. She’s basically the canine equivalent of your overzealous friend who texts, “Let’s go on an adventure!” at 6 AM. But don’t worry, she’s also got a soft side. When the adventure’s over, she knows how to kick back, cuddle, and be a professional napper. Now, about those leash walks. Well, let’s just say Rosy is a work in progress. She loves to explore and show you all the cool spots she’s found, but, unfortunately, your human legs just can’t keep up with her. So, while she’s out there living her best life on a zoomie mission, she might forget that you can’t quite match her pace. But hey, if you’re looking for a dog to drag you around the neighborhood in style, she's got you covered. As for whether she’s an adventurer or a homebody—honestly, it doesn’t matter. If you’re up for hiking, she'll be there in a heartbeat. If you're the type to stay home and binge-watch Netflix, she’ll probably join you on the couch, but not before trying to squeeze into your lap like she’s a 10lb Chihuahua. She's the kind of dog who just wants to be where you are, so buckle up for either a hiking buddy or a snuggle enthusiast—either way, she’s all in. Oh, Rosy? Happy-go-lucky doesn’t even begin to cover it. She’s basically the canine version of the social butterfly at a party—except instead of gossiping with humans, she’s making friends with absolutely everyone she meets. Dogs, cats, people, the neighbor’s lawn gnome—if it has a pulse or doesn’t, she’ll be there trying to make its acquaintance. And yes, toys and bones? She’s into those too—because nothing says “I’m living my best life” like a good chew session between socializing stints. Now, as for where she’d thrive? Well, this girl’s got energy for days, so leash walks alone aren’t going to cut it. She needs a securely fenced yard where she can run around like the tiny zoomie master she is, exploring every inch, chasing invisible squirrels, and plotting her next mischief. A leash walk here and there? Sure, but it's basically like giving a Ferrari a tricycle for a joyride. She’s gonna need more room to burn off that endless energy. When it comes to house manners, Rosy is pretty much a dream. She's potty trained, which is a win, obviously. And she’s a model citizen in the kennel, so no worries about her becoming a resident troublemaker there. As for counter surfing, well, let’s just say if you leave something on the counter, you might as well consider it hers now. If you want to keep it, better put it away because she’s not above a little stealthy snack heist when you’re distracted. But hey, no destructive chewing so that is a plus! And when it comes to sleeping arrangements, well, Rosy is a “choose your own adventure” kind of girl. Some nights she’ll sleep like a little angel in bed, some nights she’ll sleep for a couple of hours and then move to her own spot on the floor. It’s a mystery. One thing's for sure—she’s not picky about where she naps, just as long as it's comfy... and preferably somewhere near you. So, if you're ready to adopt a dog who has more personality than your last five dates combined, then Rosy is definitely the one for you. She’s ready to become your new best friend. Just fill out an adoption application at https://www.pyrpawsandfluffytailsrescue.com/adoption-app and send it to us so we can pass it on to her foster family. But remember, she’s not getting on any planes, so you’ll need to swing by Hutchinson, KS to pick her up. Trust us, she’s worth the road trip. Don’t wait too long—Rosy’s already planning her next adventure, and it might just involve you!

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Rosy, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
