My story

Cactus will capture your heart!Cactus is an affectionate boy who made the long journey from Quebec in hopes of finding his forever home. Don’t be fooled by the name—he is anything but prickly! This little lovebug likes to cuddle and be brushed. ABOUT CACTUS- In foster- Cactus is famous at the shelter for his chubby cheeks and “toupee”!- With the help of a foster family, Cactus is on a journey to adapt to a new environment and become more comfortable around people.- He loves being petted once he feels safe. He enjoys full body pets and belly rubs, but his sweet spots are the bridge of his nose, shoulder massages, head, cheek, and chin scratches. - His foster mom describes him as being like “a giant teddy bear” with her. Cactus loves cuddles, rubbing against her leg, and holding her hand with his paw.- He’s a purr machine and dedicated “biscuit” maker with his paws—air biscuits, blanket biscuits, leg and hand biscuits, he’s mastered them all!- Cactus loves treats! After many taste tests, his favourites are Churu tubes and Temptations, though he’s always prepared to try something new!- Cactus is food motivated and very vocal. He will let out a meow to let you know when it’s mealtime, and he’s big on avoiding food waste, preferring to lick his bowls clean. - Cactus is currently on a medication for joint pain but don’t worry, he has no problem taking his medicine! - Cactus loves to play! While any toy will do, his favourites are wand toys and small balls. - Cactus enjoys looking out the window and will often take a catnap pressed up against the glass. - Cactus is neutered, microchipped, dewormed, flea-treated, SNAP-tested for FIV/FeLV, and is up to date on core vaccinations. CACTUS’S IDEAL HOME- A home without small children or dogs would work best for Cactus.- Cactus would like to be the king of his home so he must be the only cat in the house.- As he can be prone to overstimulation, Cactus would appreciate humans who are familiar with feline body language, and who will help him avoid situations that make him feel prickly!- Potential adopters should be prepared to commit the time, effort, and patience required to help Cactus settle into his new environment. EHS will provide post-adoption support to assist Cactus with a successful transition to his forever home.If you think this big-hearted boy is a match for you, apply to adopt Cactus today! If you have any

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Cactus, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
