My story

Smokey’s journey hasn’t been easy, but you’d never know it from his sweet, trusting nature. Found stranded on a rock in a rushing creek—too scared to move—he was gently guided to safety by a kind Animal Services officer. He was underweight, scraped up, and missing patches of fur. Though he had a microchip, his past remained a mystery, the contact number long disconnected. Through it all, Smokey’s spirit never wavered. He is the definition of resilience and love—a total sweetheart who greets each day with a wagging tail, soulful eyes, and a heart full of affection. His foster family calls him a unicorn—because dogs like him are magical, rare, and truly one of a kind.Now that he`s healed Smokey is thriving. He’s housetrained, sleeps soundly through the night, and walks politely on leash. He’s a playful guy who enjoys toys of all kinds—whether he`s squeaking, chewing, or enthusiastically de-stuffing them. He adores playtime with his doggy foster siblings (big and small), is a pro at reading doggy social cues, and knows when to wrestle and when to give space.Smokey is also amazing with young kids—gentle, calm, and always ready for a snuggle or a bedtime story. He’s never jumpy or mouthy and is happiest being close to his humans. His dream day is simple: a relaxing stroll, a pup cup from Starbucks, some zoomies or toy time, and cuddles on the couch. He’s low-maintenance, easygoing, and not destructive when left alone.When he wants affection, he’ll nudge his nose under your hand with that signature look that goes straight to your soul. Smokey is loyal, adaptable, and full of love.
