My story

Hi everyone, I’m Oscar. I’m almost three years old. I’m a very sweet boy, I love to try to get the old men in my foster home to play with me, but they’re not very interested. I’d love to have a playmate and my foster mom says I must have a fenced in yard so I can run and work off some of my energy. I love to cuddle with my foster mom and give kisses to all. I really like people and am a good boy – most of the time. I get really scared at the vet and groomer; I don’t try to bite or anything, but my doctor says I flail (whatever that means), so I have to take some drugs to calm me down a bit, and I get groomed at the vet. I’d love to find my forever home soon! From mom:  Oscar is quite the character. He’s house and crate trained, neutered, chipped and is current on his vaccines and heartworm meds. Oscar must have a fenced yard, he walks and potties fine on a leash, but he really needs to let off some energy (or he will let it off in the house!). Oscar came from a bad situation, and gets scared at the vet and groomer. I have groomed him a couple times (clean ups), but for a full groom, he is sedated at the vet. I have tried the mobile groomer (he does get carsick), but the clippers and scissors freak him out, and the groomers (we’ve tried a couple), are worried he’ll injure himself trying to get away. He has been boarded several times and does very well. He loves people and is very friendly and social with other dogs (he drives the old men here crazy). No idea with cats (he might give chase) but I don’t think he’d know what to do if he caught one. He loves to look at the deer that come in the yard. I think he’d be great with older kids (10+), I’d be worried he might knock smaller kids over though. He’s very athletic and can jump and climb, so any fence needs to be an appropriate height. He loves his food and especially his cookies. He doesn’t really have any interest in toys, I’m not sure he understands what they are. I think Oscar would do best with a doggie buddy who can show him the ropes. He’s good inside (unless energy!) and doesn’t chew or get into things he shouldn’t. Oscar’s adoption fee is only $350. He is fostered in Michigan, so is enjoying the snow. Oscar needs someone to work with him and have patience while he’s settling in and getting used to a new home. I also think training would be helpful (he loves to be busy, so redirecting him would be a great thing). Oscar just needs love and the ability to sleep on the couch. If you think you’d be a great fit please fill out the application to start the process. Gets along with other dogs? Yes Gets along with cats? Unknown Gets along with other pets?
