My story

Hi, I’m Max, nice to meet you! I’m a 2-3 year old sweet little guy. I’ve been with my foster mom for a couple months and she’s really gotten to know me. I’m quite energetic, love doing zoomies both inside and outside, and playing together with you. But don’t be fooled, I also have plenty of mellow moments and love to cuddle. I really enjoy curling up next to you, the more contact the better. I am house trained, crate trained and know all the basic commands and then some. My caregiver has also been giving me a little free realm to see how I would do. So far, she has left me for 3 hours and I wait patiently for her. I’m doing so well! At night, I sleep in my own bed, no crate needed. I like all people I’ve met, and I love hanging out with everyone when my mom entertains. I have met a couple kids, but they are often loud and running around, which makes me a bit nervous. I’m a shy guy, mostly when outside. Since I am learning about the world for the first time, my mom and I have been training diligently to help me gain confidence and minimize my fears. I have made so much progress! But I do still get fearful in overcrowded spaces and around loud noises. I am way less fearful inside the house, but I do struggle with loud kitchen appliances. I like to make dog friends, but I need to be introduced slowly and properly, and to neutral, well-behaved dog one at a time. I’m not a dog park kind of dog. I walk great on leash when there is minimal stimuli. But I will pull quite a bit when seeing other dogs, scary things, or new environments. I’m a super sweet, smart boy who loves to be social and connected with my family. I need a yard with grass so I can run and drain my energy, as well as a patient person to help me continue to become confident. My foster mom thinks I may even do great with a resident neutral dog who can help show me the way! Max is a young adult dog and weighs 30.2 pounds.
