Allow me to introduce you to Avalon and Peony, two of the loveliest ladies you’ll ever meet. These two girls are unrelated but we consider them mom and daughter because Peony took Avalon under her wing as soon as they met and Avalon taught Peony that people weren’t as scary as she thought they were. In true JCCC fashion, Peony was semi feral and in rough shape when we took her in. She had been hit by a car which left her with severe bruising, a broken leg, and a kidney on the verge of rupturing (but you should have seen the other guy!). Due to the injuries she sustained, removing her leg and kidney was the best course of action for her but no worries, it doesn’t bother her in the slightest. At first Peony really wanted nothing to do with us which was fair considering we had stolen her leg and kidney but with the help of Avalon and wet food (lots of wet food) Peony started to come out of her shell. Peony is very shy and takes some time to warm up to people. Any sudden movements scare her and cause her to run to her safe place but she will quickly reappear once she realizes she may have overreacted. She loses her mind when it comes to wet food, like seriously, she lives for it. As soon as it is time for the wet food, Peony will appear and begin rubbing all over your legs while screaming at you to serve her immediately. This is a very beneficial trait when earning her trust because food really is the way to her heart and she is very open to bribery. While a little jumpy, Peony is a very sweet girl with a kind spirit. She enjoys pets when she gets to know you and will follow you around, often meowing loudly and excitedly. She is a bit of a tripping hazard sometimes, just so you know. While Peony can be a bit standoffish, Avalon is the complete opposite. She will drop everything to make new friends and make you smile. Like Peony, Avalon came to us a little worse for wear. Due to an eye infection as a kitten, Avalon was left with very damaged eyes. One was beyond saving and had to be removed but the other still had vision and we wanted to save it. Avalon underwent three procedures to remove excess scar tissue from her eye and allowed her to retain some vision. While it might look like she can’t see anything, she absolutely can, which is simply amazing. Avalon has seen (no pun intended) a specialist for her eye and we don’t anticipate her eye causing any issues in the future. This obviously isn’t a guarantee but we are hopeful she will not need any further procedures. As mentioned before, Avalon is happy to make friends. She enjoys greeting people and loves to be held, purring loudly as soon as she receives the adoration she deserves. She really just makes you happy no matter what. Some might think she would have a harder time navigating the world with her altered vision but you would never know. She runs around the room, climbs, chases toys, etc all without any hesitation because she’s just that amazing. Truly just a perfect little cat. As if it wasn’t obvious, Peony and Avalon are available as a pair only. We would never dream of separating these two girls and breaking the bond they so obviously share with each other. They were meant for each other. They need a calm home with no young children where Peony can open up and be herself. Peony is about 1 year and Avalon is currently 11 months old (as of 2.12.25). They are both spayed, UTD on core vaccinations, FeLV vaccinated, FeLV/FIV tested, microchipped, dewormed, and on monthly flea preventative. Their adoption fee is $100 and their adoption application can be found here: www.jcccats.org/adoption-application
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Avalon, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
