My story

Cautious, curious, chatty Oreo Truffle is a darling girl who needs a lot of time to adjust and feel comfortable in a new environment. She may hide during the day but will come out at night to explore and find fun things to do. She seems to prefer exploring to playing. She also flinches when touched on her head. Once she starts to feel comfortable with her people, she accepts pets on her cheeks and chin and purrs her appreciation. Though Oreo generally doesn’t approach people, she will come and lead you to her food bowl at mealtime! She’ll tell you in a single raspy meow that her dish needs to be filled. Oreo gets along well with the other cats in her foster home. She’s not interested in playing with the kittens, but she’ll sit calmly nearby as they frolic around. Oreo’s anxiety has caused her to stress-lick much of the fur from her hips and thighs. She’s on a calming medication to reduce her anxiety. We’re also hoping that a calm forever home with a loving and very patient family will help her finally feel fully safe and secure. Oreo Truffle has tested positive for Feline Leukemia. FeLV is not a type of cancer. It's a virus that causes a weaker immune system and often a shorter life-span. For the most part, 'FeLVies' are just like any other cat. APA! waives the adoption fees of these cats, and provides FeLV-related treatment and support post-adoption. She can only live with other FeLV+ cats, but dogs and other animals are just fine!
