My story

Meet Shea! This playful 3-year-old girl is a stocky 50 lbs of pure joy, intelligence, and athleticism. Shea’s absolute favorite thing in the world? Toys! Whether it’s a ball, a squeaky toy, or something to chase, Shea is all in. Her intelligence is off the charts—she knows exactly where her toy box is and has figured out how to open the lid herself to grab whatever toy her heart desires. If you're in the mood for a game of fetch, you're in for a treat. Shea is a pro at bringing the ball back, ready to drop it at your feet for another round. Given her keen mind and love for activity, Shea would thrive in an environment where she can continue to exercise both her body and her brain. Agility training would be an exciting challenge for her, and she’s more than capable of mastering it in no time. Shea is affectionate but not overly clingy. She loves a good cuddle, but she’s just as content to do her own thing when she’s not getting attention. When it comes to walks, she’s pretty good on the leash, though she may need a bit of guidance now and then. Shea would make a wonderful companion for someone who loves an active, intelligent, and fun-loving dog who can also appreciate some downtime together. If you're looking for a smart, athletic pup who will keep you entertained and be a loyal companion, Shea could be the perfect match for you! She has had positive interactions with other dogs, but can be a bit rude/pushy at times. She'd do best with a tolerant dog who can handle her play style. As always, we strongly recommend bringing any resident dogs to the shelter for a meet and greet with potential new family members to be sure it's a good match. If bringing a dog for a meet and greet, please bring proof of up to date rabies, bordetella, and DHPP vaccines. To meet your future pet, come to Guilford County Animal Services between 12 and 4 any day except Tuesday!
