Wink, now about 12 weeks old, arrived at our rescue on January 15, 2025, via the Lancaster SPCA system and the Faulkner Animal Hospital. Wink was spotted alone at a local landfill hiding behind a tire of a running front loader. He was only moments away from being run over when a kind man pulled him to safety and contacted the SPCA. Apart from deep abrasions and cuts, Wink also had a serious eye infection that caused his eye to rupture. Wink required a veterinary specialist to remove the eye. But the surgery went spectacularly well, and Wink navigates life pain free and with great joy. And that is how Wink got his name. He always looks like he’s winking. Wink was young when he came to us and definitely feral (born in the wild), which means he was hissy and growly at first. But once he understood we were there to help and not to hurt, he settled in and is responding well to food, affection, and play. We are, nevertheless, still giving him the time, space, and grace he needs to feel completely safe among humans. He is probably not ready for the energy of young children, but he is fascinated by our two adult rescue cats and would likely do well with a calm, older cat or a cat-friendly dog. To set up a visit with Wink, drop me a note at cherylsferalsandfosters@gmail.com or PM me. If you are considering adopting Wink, please fill out and submit the adoption contract found in The Adoption Process link on my website (cherylsferalsandfosters.com).
