My story

Nugget is looking for their forever home! WHAT MY FOSTER SAYS: If you’ve ever wanted a dog who acts like she was named by a toddler but loves like she was made in a lab for maximum heart-melting—meet Nugget. At just 1 year old, Nugget is the perfect mix of scrappy terrier energy and soulful-eyed sweetness. She’s equal parts cuddle bug, goofball, and food-obsessed gremlin (we’re working on it, okay?). This girl loves hard—she’ll press her whole body into you for snuggles, flop dramatically for belly rubs, and gaze at you like you invented snacks. Let’s talk about food: Nugget believes every meal is her last supper. She’s learning that kibble is not, in fact, an emergency—but she’s smart, food-motivated (obviously), and picking up manners quickly. She just needs consistency and someone who can manage their own energy and bring some calm to mealtime for everyone involved. Outdoors, Nugget is still figuring things out. The city can be overwhelming—air brakes? Hard no. Random construction? Immediate pause-and-stare. She’s a naturally timid, flight-prone pup in new or overstimulating environments. That said, she walks beautifully on a simple slip lead and responds well to steady, grounded leadership. What she needs most is someone who can offer the calm, confident presence of a paramedic when the world gets loud. Nugget would thrive with a person or family who understands the nature and needs of a shy dog with a big heart for adventure. She’s looking for someone who can help her build confidence in all areas of life and invite her along for the ride—whether it’s a hike, a quiet walk in nature, or a peaceful afternoon in the yard. If you’re ready for a dog who will love you fiercely, make you laugh daily, and grow beside you with courage and joy—Nugget is your girl.
