My story

Hi there! My name is Canelo and I'm a neutered, 8-month-old, Pitbull/German Shepherd mix that currently weighs about 50lbs. I'm still a growing boy and will reach around 60-70lbs as an adult. I'm hoping for a family that's prepared to continue my training and take me on adventures! I have a lot of puppy energy and I'm excited to learn new things! In Fact, I have been told that I am a pro at 'touch' and 'down,' and I'm doing well with 'spin,' 'leave it,' and 'place.'  My friends here at PHS say I'm the perfect balance between being an energetic, playful pup and a very dainty boy. I prefer households with dog savvy children that are 10 years or older since I'm still learning self-awareness. My new family should also be experienced with large breed dogs since I will be a big boy when I grow up. Please bring the entire household, including any resident dogs, so we can get acquainted before I join the family! Drop-In hours for Same Day Adoptions are 11 am – 5 pm, 7 days a week (closed major holidays). We do our best to update our listings regularly, but we can’t guarantee every animal you see is still available. It’s also typical for us to have animals who haven’t had their photos taken yet, so you are welcome to visit our adoption center and have a look around!
