My story

Tommy Cuddles is a sweet and clever pup enrolled in our Shelter Scholars program, where he's been working on the foundations of polite exchange-learning to give up toys, treats, or other valued items in a calm and cooperative way. Through positive reinforcement training, Tommy has been practicing cues like trade and drop it, showing off his ability to wait patiently and make thoughtful choices. He's learning that sharing brings even better rewards, and he's responding beautifully to consistent, gentle guidance. A volunteer writes: Tommy Cuddles is simply a perfect good boy. The way he gently tilts his head, snuggles up to us with his extra furry body. We can't keep our hands off him - he is one of the softest boys we have ever met!Tommy was found as a stray without any known information. As we have gotten to know him, we learn he loves baby talk. He props himself up on us, tail displaying wag wags and we just fall in love. We can't stop saying how delicious he is, how furry and precious. Tommy plays with toys but it seems like he's doing it more for our enjoyment than his own. We learn balls are his preferred toy as he jumps around the yard. Tommy is looking for a slow and gentle home to decompress from the shelter. He is at Queens ACC. What my friends at ACC say about me:My history is a mystery and my friends here do not know much about me yet!It is unknown if I have ever lived with other animals or children.I would do best in a home with only adult humans.My rough and tumble play style may not be the right match for all dogs.I will flourish in a calm environment and a low-traffic home.
