My story

Hi! My name is Deja (but you can call me Patata) and I am a Priority Pet! I have CH but am a wonderful kitty!Yes, like the potato. It started as a joke—something about my “healthy appetite” and round little belly—but honestly? I’ve embraced it. Potatoes are tough, adaptable, and comforting. So am I.I was born outside as part of a feral colony. I’m also deaf and have cerebellar hypoplasia (CH), which means I’m a little wobbly. But don’t feel sorry for me. I made it out there. I figured things out. I survived with style. That’s why I still carry a bit of that wild girl energy—I had to be scrappy, fast, and clever. And I still am.My foster family has another deaf cat, so they already knew how to help me feel safe and confident—tapping the floor to get my attention, letting me see them approach before petting, and keeping routines consistent. That kind of thoughtfulness goes a long way for a girl like me.I’ve got mild CH, but you’d never know it when I’m zooming up stairs or sneaking past you at bedtime. I use the litter box faithfully, though fair warning—I cover my business with gusto. Like, Olympic-level litter kicking. A high-sided box or a litter mat would be a good call. You’ve been warned.I’m stunning, if I do say so myself. Gray and white, silky fur, and always in motion—photos rarely catch me in focus, but the blur is part of the charm. When I am still? It’s usually because I’ve chosen to cuddle you—and that moment is golden. I don’t snuggle constantly, but when I do, I go all in.Other cats? Love playing with them. I’ll chase and be chased all day. I’m not big on naps together, but a playful feline friend would be a bonus. Dogs? Meh. Not really my vibe. I co-exist with a few now, and they listen to me because I make it very clear when I’ve had enough. If you have the right kind of mellow dog, maybe… but I’d be happy without.Small kids might be a bit too much for me. I can’t hear, and fast, unpredictable movement can be overwhelming. I’d do best in a calm home with soft routines, safe spaces, and a window or screened-in porch for birdwatching (my absolute favorite).I’m independent, emotionally smart, and full of personality. I set boundaries, I seek out affection on my terms, and I bond deeply when I trust you.Give me time, patience, and snacks, and I’ll give you fierce loyalty and endless entertainment. If you respect my space, I’ll show you my heart. If you bring snacks
