My story

When Elsa first arrived at the shelter, her snowy white coat caught our eyes, but it was her gentle spirit that stole our hearts. She may be a little unsure of her new surroundings but with patience, she walks gracefully outside. She loves the quiet comfort of a long walk and a soft voice. Elsa came to ACCT Philly because her person was facing homelessness and feared she wouldn’t survive the summer heat. She’s been described as having “bougie energy” loving attention and affection. She’s housebroken and knows commands like “sit,” “lay down,” and “up up.” She can be a little strong on leash, especially when she sees other dogs, so a harness works best. Elsa’s looking for a home where she’ll be loved unconditionally. She’s still learning to feel safe again and needs a person who will go slow, give her space when she needs it, and let her bloom on her own time. Come meet this beauty at ACCT Philly any day of the week between 10 am & 6 pm BEHAVIOR 06/08/202 volunteer notes: when I met this white coated beauty in her crate, she made my heart. Since she was a new arrival, she was very nervous and timid, rightfully so. It took a few minutes to gain her trust to allow me to leash her but once I did, she walked very gracefully on the leash. She wasn’t very interested in treats or toys but she did enjoy taking a nice long walk outside. Since she was a little nervous, I didn’t want to push her boundaries with too many pets but she did allow me to pet her. Previous shelter stay notes: 02/03/2025 staff notes: KENNEL PRESENTATION: Elsa was standing at the front of kennel with neutral body language and soft eyes. Stood calmly at the front while I leashed her and then exited easily without issue. LEASH SKILLS: Pulls minimally HANDLING : In the room Elsa remained calm and easy to handle. She was neutral in the room and did not have much interest in interaction. She was exit focused while out and was pacing by the door painting heavily. When I would approach her she remained neutral and tolerant to handling, but did not show interest in wanting to interact. She allowed me to pet her head and back without issue, but at times would flinch away from me when reaching for her face on or going for head pets. She never tensed or escalated, but did get annoyed with too much handling and would give signals when she wanted to be left alone. PLAY: No interest TOYS: No interest 02/02/2025 staff notes: Very sweet girl but stressed, allowed all handling needed, refused to walk through kennel and had to be carried ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in. We are open for adoptions 7 days a week. Please visit www.acctphilly.org/adopt for details. If you are a rescue interested in pulling this animal, please email our lifesaving team, or visit here if you are not currently a rescue partner: https://acctphilly.org/acct-philly-love-local-partnership-program/ Confirmed placement is considered a confirmation of an actual rescue pull. Possible placement, interested parties, and other "TBD" statuses are not considered confirmed and do not indicate an animal is no longer urgent. All animals at ACCT Philly are from Philadelphia, as the only open-intake animal shelter in Philadelphia, we are not able to accept animals from outside of Philadelphia. ACCT Philly’s Pennsylvania kennel license number is 08313

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Elsa, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
