My story

Approximate Age: 3.5 years old Approximate Weight: 50lbs Meet Shadow! She is a sweet and fun loving girl. Shadow is up for almost anything! Want to go for a run or walk? She’s right with ya. Want to take it easy and lay in bed or on the couch? She loves a good rot day. Want to lounge outside or by the fire? Done deal. She’s even down for a trip to Lowe’s. Shadow loves to eat, her favorite foods include peppers, strawberries, doggie treats, and probably whatever you’re eating. Kids, cats, and other dogs all make good friends for Shadow. The one thing shadow doesn’t like, that she’s working so so so hard on and is learning to be ok with, is being left alone. She just loves her people. She would really love someone who could work with her on that- she’s eager to please. Some of Shadows favorite activities include squeezing her toys, chewing on bones, and putting her head out the car window. Mixed mutt! ODHS does not breed label (unless there's official paperwork), as studies show it is nearly impossible to tell the exact breed of each dog based off of their appearance. More "sought out breeds may have a higher adoption donation) Adoption donations are to be made via cash, or credit/debit card. There is a $5 fee to run cards. We do not accept checks for adoption fees. Please remember to bring a martingale collar and leash (non-retractable) with you the day of the adoption. We typically have adoption events on Wednesdays 5-7pm, Fridays 6-8pm, and 11 to 3pm. Our adoption center is located at 3602 Lafayette Blvd, Suite 101, Fredericksburg, VA 22408. It's important that you keep an eye on your emails for any changes or updates during the adoption process. Old Dominion Humane Society is a volunteer based organization. We are run completely by volunteers, who also have full time jobs, so we appreciate your patience. Currently, the average timeframe for a response to your application is 1 week.
