My story

Meet Helen, the sweetest blind cat on a quest for her special human(s)! Despite her lack of sight, Helen is an independent spirit whose love bucket is overflowing with affection. We are not sure how Helen became blind, but she a petite cat with big gorgeous green eyes. This senior has adapted well to her lack of sight and uses her other senses, such as her whiskers to judge distance and the scent glands on her paws to help her navigate. She gets along quite well navigating on her own; avoid the urge to carry her. Stoke her whiskers before petting her so not to startle her. Helen gets up on the bed by herself and loves to sit on a bench by an open window listening to the birds, feeling the breeze, and lying in the warm sun. It is important to remember that she is a cat and needs to be able to climb, play, and have her quiet time. Her favorite toys crinkle or make noises, she uses her cat scratcher, and is fond of catnip. Sne is a social girl and she teaches you her many versions of meow. Helen will make an excellent companion cat or family cat. She is social, she likes people and does not shy away from meeting new people. When Helen comes into your home start her out in a small room that she can navigate and become accustomed to. Let her learn that room and other family members. (She starts out by walking around the perimeter). Help her learn your voice and play cat calming music for her. Let her come to you when she is ready. Gradually increase her to another room until she learns your home and the people who live there; this could take a while. Let her be able to go the first room she knows so she has a safe place to run if she gets scared. She may be apprehensive in the beginning but with patience and love you will win her trust. Her superpower is navigating her world with remarkable speed and grace, proving that blind is absolutely beautiful. Are you ready to welcome a bundle of sweetness into your heart? Helen will fill your life with love and joy!

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Helen, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
