My story

Notes from overnighter with Volunteer...Over the weekend, Braxton enjoyed a staycation at my house. As a house guest, he did great ! Displayed a very relaxed low to medium energy temperament - with his playful side starting to show as he became more comfortable in a new environment. He loves affection & readily accepts treats. His default greeting when you approach is to roll over for belly rubs. Invite him on the couch & he will rest his head in your lap. Also seemed to enjoy a good brushing. If you`re busy, he`s patient & will lay down by your feet while you...Cook, clean, or prepare your tax return. While he loves to keep you company, he`s shown that he`s able to maintain his composure if you do step out of sight - often simply finding a new napping spot to try out.Braxton`s issue is that he has developed a fear of the outdoors. He manages to get to our nearby Astroturf yards, but much further than that & he often panics to get back to the `safety` of his kennel. Even on his outing, he needed to be carried to the car, & in a calm backyard with lots of time & encouragement, he just stayed by the door & wanted to go back inside. So he would do well with someone who is inside a lot, but also could benefit from someone who has the patience to work with him on this issue. He is really a sweet dog deserving of happiness.Braxton recently met some social dogs at our shelter & did fine.  He seemed uncomfortable around other dogs, but we hope that as he gets more experience in our shelter playgroups, he’ll be ready to show us his silly side with other dogs.  Looking for a buddy for your dog?  Bring him/her to the shelter for a meet & greet & see if we`re a match!  Check out her playgroup video here:
