My story

Meet Kevin, the 1-year-old Podengo puppy with epic energy. True to his sight hound roots, this boy’s got serious “hunt for fun” instincts—whether it’s a toy, a leaf, or the scent of adventure. He’s also very smart, mastering routines faster than you can say, “Who’s a good boy?” Kevin recently attended a huge annual dog event and showed everyone what a superstar he is. Surrounded by crowds of people and countless dogs, Kevin was polite, friendly, and especially good with his fellow pups. He paraded proudly as one of the featured adoptable dogs, soaking up the attention like a pro. Out in the big fenced-in field, he was given the freedom to roam and had the time of his life running and sniffing. At the dog event, he proved he’s a champ on leash, even in the middle of a crowd full of people and pups. As a classic Podengo, Kevin thrives with exercise and would love a securely fenced yard where he can zoom around safely. Sign this guy up for jogs, hikes, or even training for a 5k. From backyard zoomies to big events, Kevin is always game for a good time. While Kevin is wonderfully friendly with both people and dogs, his prey drive makes him better suited for homes without cats, small dogs, or very young children. Older kids and teens, however, are the perfect match. Fun fact: Kevin has a soft spot for classical music. It helps him relax and nap like a true gentleman—unless, of course, it’s mealtime or potty time, which is when he makes his happy announcements. Kevin is ready for an active home filled with fun, adventure, and plenty of snuggles. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs, we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet.
