My story

Hi, I`m Penny, a sweet older gal who is ready for her forever home!I am currently being treated with some skin medication that is helping me to feel better and look my best. Because I am an older gal I have some lumps and bumps. Vets noticed that I have a mass on my upper back but it is stable and not causing any discomfort. It may be benign (slow growing and not causing problems), but it cannot be known until diagnostics are performed. The Shelter vets have recommend that you follow up with your primary veterinarian for any additional recommendations or treatment. I went out on a doggie day out adventure on 1/15 and here is what my person had to say!`From the moment we picked her up, we loved having Penny. She rode better in the car than any dog we`ve had. No barking, panting, drooling, jumping into front seat. or vomiting. She walked smoothly, mostly slack leash. She curiously looked around and wanted to see, sniff everything, as if she`d never been out and about before. She didn`t act tired or want to slow down and rest even though we spent hours walking, only sometimes sitting to take a break. First in Old Sac, we walked up and down the main street and along the river path. We saw people, a few dogs, a horse mounted policeman. She was very respectful, didn`t react. One couple thought she was such a good dog, they`d like her but lived in an apartment, no pets allowed. We drove to our house and gave Penny a half cup dog food and water. She also gladly and gently accepted treats from our neighbor before going to the park nearby. She walked around, more interested in squirrels than children playing or people walking dogs. Then we strolled along the levee, where it was quiet, few people. Finally we drove to Starbucks and relaxed, people watching. Penny loved her pupuccino and all her treats. We had a wonderful day, and it was sad to take her back. Penny watched kids in the playground. They appeared to be toddlers or young elementary school age. She didn`t react much as they played, laughing and talking, or when one little boy tried to approach her before his father said to come back. She was mainly interested in looking around quietly, calmly, no barking, no pulling on leash. No other contact with children. Penny is FRIENDLY and HAPPY with us, strangers who admired her, neighbor who gave treats and wanted her to come in and play with her dog (but wasn`t allowed to). QUIET and RESERVED, no barking or noises in the car, on walks. GREAT T
