You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. This adorable beauty here is Miss Ruth, and she is currently screening for a Pyr-experienced home to be her furever family. This sweet senior gal has lots of love to give and snuggles to share! If you ask her, Ruth's highlight of the day is definitely her regular sniff walk - after all, a guardian dog has to take the time to keep track of the ins and outs of the neighborhood. She gets along with other dogs, so long as they recognize that she is the alpha dog of the house. Ruth is pretty much the pyrfect gal at home, with exceptional house manners. At her age, Ruth has seen it all and knows the importance of keeping oneself comfortable while being a responsible house pooch. For example, keeping an eye on pawtential intruders may be important, but it is equally important to chill and relax when nothing else is going on. She is very laid-back and low energy. This gentle lady adores being petted, and she believes that she deserves being rubbed and loved on, no matter what. She loves attention so much that she’ll get grouchy if other dogs try to get rubs at the same time - she’s just not into sharing. Same with food - she’ll warn other dogs to leave her in peace while she enjoys her meals. Her furever home would ideally be far away from any fireworks, as she detests their obnoxious noise. She’d also love to avoid car rides as much as possible, as they make her sick. Miss Ruth is looking for an easy-going household with a 5’ fenced yard, where she will be loved and cherished, so that she can enjoy her retirement. She can be an only dog, absorbing all possible love and attention from her humans! And don’t you worry - should you forget to keep petting, she’ll use her super-powerful Pyr Paw to let you know that the loving must continue! Do you have room in your heart and home for a well-mannered, giant lady to live out her golden years? National Great Pyrenees Rescue (NGPR) has been rescuing and adopting out Great Pyrenees since 2006. Our relationship doesn’t end with adoption, as we continue to support adopters throughout the lifetime of their dog. Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority. February 6, 2025, 6:59 pm
