My story

Meet Ace: A Fighter’s Journey to a New LifeAce's story is one of resilience, second chances, and the power of compassion. Found emaciated and struggling to survive on the streets of Louisiana, Ace was little more than skin and bones, his body ravaged by starvation and heartworm disease. Despite his suffering, there was still a spark in his eyes—a quiet determination to keep going.A good samaritan brought Ace to her home in Arkansas to begin his long road to recovery. At first, it seemed like he had finally caught a break. But as time went on, his emotional scars and medical needs became overwhelming for his foster. What started as a hopeful journey turned into a heartbreaking reality: they no longer wanted to continue his care and felt euthanasia was the only option. That’s when Big Paws of the Ozarks stepped in. Refusing to let Ace's story end there, they rescued him once again—this time from an uncertain fate. With a carefully structured behavioral modification plan, they committed to helping him heal both physically and emotionally.Through patience, structured training, and unwavering support, Ace began to trust again. His medical needs were addressed, and his spirit grew stronger each day. With the help of dedicated volunteers and trainers, he learned that the world wasn’t as scary as he once believed.Ace is a young and energetic pup with a big heart and an even bigger appetite for learning (and treats!). Ace is already potty trained and sleeps soundly through the night in his kennel, making him a breeze to have around. When you're home, his favorite place is right next to you on the couch, where he loves to snuggle up and soak in all the affection he can get.Ace is extremely food-motivated, which makes training easy—he’s a quick learner with a confident, strong-willed personality. This playful boy has bursts of energy and loves to zoom around, making every play session an adventure. If you’re ready for a loyal, loving, and lively companion, Ace might just be your perfect match!Big Paws of the Ozarks is a foster-based dog rescue in Northwest Arkansas. We require an approved adoption application on file before scheduling meets with our dogs. You can find the application here (www.bigpawsozarks.org/adoption-application). Please email info@bigpawsoftheozarks.org if you have specific questions about an available dog.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Ace, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
