My story

Truffles is a sweet and cuddly girl with a heart of gold. Anyone who meets her falls instantly in love. Whether she's fast asleep on her bed or eagerly seeking cuddles and a game of fetch, she always brings joy to those around her.  Truffles was adopted as a puppy way back in 2021, but in 2022 she was found wandering the streets alone. Judging by her malnourishment she had likely been alone for 2 weeks or more. Luckily, she was adopted again by a loving home. Unfortunately, a few years later, Truffles' owners became too sick to care for her, and surrendered her once more to Waldo's. Her foster family from January-May 2025  was lovingly obsessed with her (and is available for future dog sitting!) but now she's moved to the UWS to make new friends as she searches for her forever family   Personality & Characteristics: The first thing you will notice about Truffles is that she loves a good cuddle! She may be a little shy at first, but a few sniffs and maybe a treat later and you will have her heart.   She is very smart, with a few tricks up her sleeve—Sit, Paw, Other Paw, Lie Down, Up, Wait, and Drop It—and she learns new commands quickly, especially when treats are involved. Truffles does as she’s told, is great on a leash (with or without a harness), and only occasionally pulls if something particularly exciting catches her attention (especially pigeons). She loves to sniff everything on her walks and will sit nicely for a photo—or preferably a treat! She also loves bath time and is such a clean girl that she’ll raise each of her paws for you to clean after her walk. Although she may seem shy at first, Truffles quickly warms up and reveals her soft, silly side. She adores being petted, often requesting big hugs when she’s not napping. Playtime is a favorite, especially fetch, where she politely brings her toys to you to start the game. She’s treat-motivated and quick to learn, making her a joy to train. Her gentle, affectionate nature makes her a perfect companion for someone seeking a loving and loyal friend. At home, she is perfectly behaved, never chewing anything other than her toys, respecting your need for quiet time during a zoom call (even with her current neighbours who are particularly yappy dogs, she remains cool, calm and collected), and exhibiting no seperation anxiety, she's an independent woman!!!She has no problem being left alone and will happily sleep all day until you return. She is great on a leash and will never bark at other dogs, thought she is always interested in passing birds or squirrels! My Foster Dog Is Good With: Truffles can be shy and a bit nervous around other dogs she doesn’t know well, but she is not reactive during walks, and likely just needs a slow introduction! My Foster Dog Is: Crate trained House trained 3 Keywords for Your Pup: Silly, sleepy, cuddly Energy Level (1 = calm, 10 = high energy): 5—she’s mostly calm and loves her naps but has bursts of playful energy during games of fetch or walks. Barker? Or Quiet Pup?: Generally very quiet. She "talks" to get attention and quickly quiets   Walking Manners: Great on a leash—calm and obedient, with occasional excitement when she spots something interesting to sniff. Appetite: Medium but good with a slow feeder  Favorite Things: Cuddles, treats, chew toys, afternoon naps, and fetch are some of her absolute favorites. Commands/Tricks: Truffles knows Sit, Paw, Place, Other Paw, Lie Down, Up, Heel, Wait, Leave it, and Drop It. She’s incredibly smart and picks up new tricks quickly, especially when treats are involved! She will go to her place and wait for her food to be put down, and only when we say the magic words (Good girl!) will she leave her place. ALL adoptions require a completed application and final contract. The application can be found at  WaldosRescue.org  and once you are approved to adopt you will be put in touch with the foster to see if it’s a good match. We are a RESCUE not a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. We are unable to contact every applicant for every dog.  We will select the best applicant for each dog, based on the dogs needs. Waldos Rescue Pen is a 501c3 whose primary focus is rescuing dogs from the euthanasia list from high kill shelters throughout the United States ##1281233##

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Truffles, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
