My story

Chester is a sweetie pie! His 38lbs are entirely made of velvet and cuddles. He is doing wonderfully in his weekend visit out of shelter. I wasn’t sure I had it in me to manage puppy energy, but this guy is EASY! Here’s what I can share so far about him: ?? Housebroken! He does his business on command and immediately when taken outside! No accidents at all. He is able to go all night and at least 7 hours during the day (I didn`t try to go longer) without a potty break. ?? Doing exceptionally well with my kids (youngest is a high-energy 9-year-old). Seems to take everything in stride and has been LOVING their attention. ?? Not a barker. He does verbalize here and there, but very politely. We had a car engine revving nearby last night and our resident dog and neighbor dogs have been on and off very bark-y, but Chester was chill through all of it. ?? Does great in the car. No complaints from him, but does need some assistance in and out because he’s a little sore (he has some injuries on his tummy, too). ?? Very easy on a leash! Chester seems to regularly look to his person to take the lead. I’ve also taken him in our big backyard with and without leash and he is interested in exploring, but also keeps an eye on me and doesn’t go far.?? Not sure how he does with other animals as we don’t introduce our fosters to resident pets right away. However, when I picked him up at the PACC clinic he was appropriately interested in the other patients from a distance, yet polite. He did spot our senior 60lb resident dog through the window a few times at our home and had a similar response— interested, but didn’t approach and no overt signs of irritation or distress. Seems non-reactive. ?? Eating habits— about as low maintenance as could be. Eating great! Takes treats with SUCH a gentle mouth. No sign of resource guarding around people. As for meds, I just packed them in a little wet food and he gobbled them up with the rest of his food. Easy peasy. Zero fuss. ?? Most importantly, this guy has a lot of love to give. He loves snuggles. He will ask for them at times with a soft nuzzle and welcomes opportunities to be close. Loves to be a feet warmer or to bury his head in the crook of his person’s arm or leg. He’s really good at making people feel loved and appreciated. Give him a little rub between his eyebrows and he leans in for snuggles.
