Personality: Affectionate, calm, loyal, patient, quiet, shy, playful, eager-to-please, and gentle. Dexter is a sweet and calm dog who will make the perfect companion for either someone seeking their canine “ride or die” or a family who will be his human pack. This sensitive and old soul is fiercely loyal once he's given you his trust and loves being near his people for cuddles and play. Dexter is house trained and crate trained, and his confidence continues to grow as he gets used to city life. He can be slow to warm up to strangers and would do best in a single-family home rather than a large apartment building. Smart Dexter already knows the words "sit" and "come," and loves playing with other dogs at the dog park. He usually has a few minutes of zoomies per day and spends the rest of the time snoozing or cuddling. This wiggly boy can’t wait to meet his forever people and shower them with love. Could that be you? Apply today to meet Dexter! ____________________________________________________________________ If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. If the animal has "HAS APPLICATION" listed, they are still available to receive additional applications but also may be in the process of being adopted soon. Apply for a DOG: http://www.citydogsrescuedc.org/adoptable-dogs.html Interested in saving more lives? Foster a dog today! Learn more, see our list of dogs needing foster, and apply, https://www.citydogsrescuedc.org/foster-a-city-dog.html City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is a foster-based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. CDCK has a thorough adoption process to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats (we do not operate under a first-come, first-served model). Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter for dogs six months and older. We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam before adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDCK. City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us. Dog specific: Rabies, DHPP, Lepto and Bordetella vaccines. They are tested for HW, Lyme, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis. Most cats and dogs will have a house-training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any pet is housebroken or crate trained.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Dexter, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
