My story

Missy came into our care after being spared from euthanasia at a local shelter. Initially, she was very nervous and shut down in her kennel but once she was in her foster home, her true personality began to shine! While Missy is still a little nervous around new people and dogs, it’s simply out of initial fear and lack of confidence. She is currently living in a foster home with five other dogs of varying ages, sizes and personalities. She even gets along well with the three cats in the household. Missy hasn’t been around children yet, so we're unsure how she'll react but she’s already shown so much progress with patience and time. Missy’s resilience has been truly inspiring. She is adjusting well to indoor life, making great strides with crate training and potty training. She walks well on a leash and will continue to improve as she gets more exposure to different environments. At just one year old and weighing in at 33 lbs, Missy is the perfect size for a family looking for a loving companion. She does have a condition called microphthalmia, where her right eye is smaller than usual but it doesn’t cause her any issues and certainly doesn't take away from her beauty—it only adds to her unique charm. Missy is now ready for her forever home and would love to find a family who can appreciate her sweet, resilient nature.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Missy, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
