My story

Meet Almond!Almond is a 3-year-old large mixed breed who was found as a stray in the Bronx and has since spent time in a foster home. This affectionate and playful girl is eager to find her forever home where she can be loved and cherished. My Ideal HomeAlmond would thrive in a home that provides both structure and activity. She has an energetic personality and would benefit from regular exercise, training, and positive reinforcement. She is best suited for an adult-only home or a home with older children who can respect her space and help reinforce good manners.Good with Kids?Almond would do best in a home without young children due to her excitable nature and tendency to jump up in a social manner. Older kids who understand dog behavior may be a better fit.Good with Other Dogs?Almond has had mixed reactions to other dogs-sometimes greeting them with a loose, wiggly body and other times barking and jumping at the fence. She would need slow, positive introductions if placed in a home with another dog.Good with Cats?Unknown-she has not been tested with cats.Leash MannersAlmond is strong on the leash and can be reactive toward dogs and small animals while walking. A front-clip harness and reward-based training will help manage this behavior.Overall HealthShe has no ongoing medical concerns, though she is slightly overweight and would benefit from a balanced diet and exercise.Behavior DeterminationLevel 3 (Experienced Adopters Recommended) - Almond is a sweet and affectionate dog who loves attention but needs continued training for her manners, anxiety, and leash reactivity. She thrives with positive reinforcement and would do best in a structured environment.Fun FactAlmond has a reputation for being a "kissing machine"! If you're not careful, you'll get an unexpected smooch attack from this affectionate girl. What Her Friends Say💬 "Almond is very sweet! She loves to play, licks a lot as a show of love, and enjoys belly rubs. She listens to commands like sit, wait, and go." -Her Foster💬 "She was the perfect Borough Break buddy-affectionate, playful, and well-behaved on leash. She made our day and will make someone very happy!" -VolunteerIf you're looking for a fun-loving, affectionate dog who will bring energy and joy into your life, Almond could be the perfect match for you! Come meet her today! 🐾A staff member writes: Almond may be a little nutty (in the best way!), but her affection and loyalty are truly unmatched. Whether you're out for a stroll or just relaxing at home, Almond is always by your side, ready to share her love and bring joy to your life. If you're looking for a furry friend who's as sweet as her name and will make your world a little brighter, Almond is your girl! Primary Color: Tan Weight: 73 Age: 3yrs 7mths 4wks
