Nutmeg

My story

5 1/2 year old Nutmeg is a big, beautiful hound who is hoping for an adopter who is willing to go slow with her and to help to build her confidence.Nutmeg coexists with the dogs in the foster home but does not currently play with them. Like all of our pups, she would love to meet any potential canine siblings before heading home to make sure that it’s a great match. She is slowly warming up to the foster and seeking out attention.Nutmeg is house trained, free roams and has not been a counter surfer. She enjoys treats and waits her turn nicely. I have not noticed any food aggression. She is good on a leash as long as she is not spooked. If she gets scared, she pulls and wants to go right back inside. A martingale type collar is a must for her so she can’t pull out of her collar. We have only gone on very short walks but her comfort and confidence is growing. Nutmeg was found as a stray so we don’t have any information about her previous life. She is up to date on her vaccinations, spayed and microchipped.Nutmeg is currently living in a foster home where she is learning that the world is not a terrifying place. In an effort to help dogs with longer stays, those who are deteriorating in the shelter environment, or who are harder to place find homes more quickly, the adoption fee for this dog has been waived.
