My story

Reggie is lovable, goofy, and loyalReggie – Loyal Soul Seeking a Calm, Loving Home Reggie is a gentle, loving dog just waiting for the right person to notice him. He enjoys having his meals and toys in his own space and prefers slow, gentle handling that lets trust grow naturally. With patience, Reggie becomes a devoted, loyal friend who will stand by your side for life. Once he chooses you, Reggie is both a calm snuggler and a fun playmate. He loves quiet affection, relaxed moments on the couch, romps in the yard, and peaceful walks. A quick learner with wonderful house manners, he is crate-trained, walks nicely on a leash, and thrives on praise and connection. Reggie gets along well with most dogs and would enjoy a compatible doggy playmate. He would do best in a calm home with dog-savvy, patient adopters who understand slow introductions and trust building. He is likely fine with older kids but may be too clumsy for small children. Back Story Reggie was found roaming in the desert by an animal control officer and taken to a veterinarian for care and adoption—but instead, he spent over a year neglected in a 4×6 outdoor pen. When transferred to Pets Return Home, he arrived 30 pounds underweight with sores on his legs and paws, caked eyes and ears, several dog bites, and no vaccinations or neuter. He was hand-shy and extremely anxious, barking constantly and reacting fearfully to dogs. Over the next year, Reggie received medical care, training, and patient rehabilitation. His transformation has been remarkable—he now greets new people warmly, listens attentively, enjoys snuggles, loves walks, and engages confidently with dogs. He remains one of our most stable and wonderful boys. Reggie has a bit of an adventurous streak and has gone on a few “walkabouts,” always returning on his own. With a secure yard and attentive adopters, he will thrive. Behavior Profile      ·  Very friendly with people and dogs      ·  Likely fine with older children; too clumsy for small kids      ·  Excellent listener      ·  Barks at unfamiliar things, not excessively      ·  Enjoys long periods outside, quiet crate time, and relaxing indoors      ·  Affectionate, stable, and eager to please Positive Attributes      ·  Forms a strong, lasting bond with his person.      ·  Calm and soft in interactions.      ·  Enjoys toys, games, and fun activities.      ·  Enjoys cuddles, pets, and human closeness.      ·  Learns commands and routines quickly.      ·  Wants to make his human happy.      ·  Plays well and lives peacefully with other canines.      ·  Enjoys being around respectful children.      ·  Consistently goes potty outside.      ·  Has overcome hardship and adapted well.      ·  Makes people laugh with his quirks and antics. Behavior Challenges      ·  Protects his food from other dogs.      ·  Dislikes grooming, vet exams, or certain touch. If you cannot adopt right now, will you help by sponsoring monthly? You can help sanctuary, adoptable, in-treatment, and new-intake dogs by giving $10 or more each month. Your charitable support helps provide food, medications, veterinary care, training, and love our dogs need while they wait for a family, heal, or live in the sanctuary. Pets Return Home is a no-kill sanctuary, rehabilitation center, and adoption center dedicated to giving E-listed, homeless, abandoned, abused, and neglected dogs a real chance at life. Located in Northern Arizona, we provide an enriching free-range environment where dogs learn to trust, play, and rediscover what it means to be a dog. What Sets Us Apart We have saved 1200+ dogs once considered too “broken” to live through our rehabilitation and adoption programs. All of the dogs free-range where they play, learn boundaries, and form healthy bonds, as well as have full access to our home, where they learn home living, manners, and family love.    Learn more: www.petsreturnhome.org Why Adopt When you adopt from Pets Return Home, you save at least two lives: the dog you bring home and the dog who now has space to enter our rehabilitation program.
