My story

Meet Nova – A Resilient, Spirited Girl Ready for Her Forever Home Nova is a 4-year-old Australian Kelpie mix with a bright spark in her eye and a whole lot of love to give. Her journey hasn’t been easy—she’s faced more than her fair share of heartbreak—but she’s still as sweet and spirited as ever.Nova was originally adopted as a puppy, but like so many dogs, she was sadly left behind when life got complicated. Found as a stray, we discovered she was chipped, but her registered owner denied knowing her. With help from kind community members, we learned that Nova had been repeatedly found wandering the local greenway and returned home, only to be abandoned again—this time, intentionally.Despite her past, Nova is full of life. She does the cutest happy dance when she sees you coming and loves going for walks. She’s treat-motivated, playful, and always ready to make you laugh with her goofy energy. She gets along well with other dogs (big and small) and even does well with cats.Recently, Nova was adopted again but returned after it became clear that she doesn’t like to share her toys and wasn’t comfortable living with a baby. Because of this, Nova would do best in a home without young children and with someone who understands her need for clear boundaries and a little space when it comes to her belongings. This girl is active, affectionate, and incredibly loyal. Nova is looking for someone who will finally give her the stability, love, and forever home she deserves. If you’re ready to commit to a fun, intelligent, and one-of-a-kind companion, Nova is ready to meet you. This pet is available for adoption on 5/13 at the Yakima Humane-Ellensburg Shelter If you recognize this animal, please contact the adoption center at 509-925-7387 Ready to adopt? Great news—our spayed/neutered pets are available to go home the same day! You can visit us in person, give us a call, or apply online—whatever works best for you. For online adoptions please fill out our quick adoption questionnaire here: https://yakimahumane.org/adopt/apply/ Your adoption fee includes: A lovable new companion, spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations + deworming, flea/tick treatment, rabies vaccine (for pets 3–4 months and older), and microchip with nationwide registration. Every adoption helps support YHS and our community spay/neuter programs to end pet overpopulation. Questions? We’d love to hear from you! Email us at yhsellensburg@yakima

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Nova, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
