You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Krista is a pretty, smaller-size Pyrenees mix who is happy and gets along well with a menagerie in her foster home that includes cats, dogs and a caged rabbit. She’s generally very mellow, with a go-with-the-flow personality. She is happiest when she’s part of a family and can keep her eye on someone. She gets the zoomies in the yard (a 4’ fence suits her well), loves sleeping on her back, and buries her head in your lap when she wants some pets. And the Pyr Paw will come out to ask you to keep petting! Krista is housebroken, leash-trained, crate-trained, and knows how to sit and give her paws on command. She has long, soft fur and is very agreeable to being brushed and bathed. She is happy and loving, and gives a toothy “smile” when she knows she’s ignoring a command (like come inside). She’s gentle, and respectful of house rules, other animals and people. She does get stressed when left alone, so would be happiest with a family where someone is home more than not. - Written by M.M. If you call or e-mail you are reducing your chances of adopting this animal as we direct our time and energy to first serving those who apply. NYS Registered Non-Profit Rescue # RR102. National Great Pyrenees Rescue (NGPR) has been rescuing and adopting out Great Pyrenees since 2006. Our relationship doesn’t end with adoption, as we continue to support adopters throughout the lifetime of their dog. Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority. February 6, 2025, 6:59 pm
