My story

Brian Socks may not actually wear socks, but he does have cute little white feet that look be- socked and ready to slip into some sneakers! In fact, if wearing socks and sneakers will help him trot out of the shelter faster, he’s not opposed! Here’s what volunteers have said about this mellow boy:“Brian Socks is big, but very gentle. He was easy to leash up, sat before we left his kennel, and had no reactions to the kenneled dogs we passed. He walked with a loose leash the whole time we were walking. He loves treats and takes them very gently. He is totally a very good boy!”“I adore Brian Socks!! I often take he and his kennelmate to a play yard, and he’s gentle, calm, and sweet. He doesn’t demand your attention but calmly soaks up all the pets and scritches you have to offer. He’s very tolerant of a much rowdier kennelmate and is just a super lovable gentle giant. A really great pup!!”Brian spent several weeks in a foster home recovering from a doggy cold and he was a perfect houseguest!! Here’s what his foster had to say:“Brian Socks has been doing amazing - he is just the absolute sweetest baby. He is very, very sensitive. His energy has picked up wonderfully and he has been enjoying playing catch with a tennis ball in the backyard. Above all, he loves snuggles; he adores being wrapped up in blankets and cuddling on the couch -- he jumps up, lies on his side, and goes into the deepest sleep with the cutest little snores. We did not need to use a crate at all; he is house trained overall and has not exhibited any destructive behaviors. He is VERY food motivated, which has led to a few sneaky counter-surfing attempts. He also seems to know and respond to basic commands: sit, come, stay, and `get in the house.` He is a very quick study, and has learned the rituals and rhythm of the day quickly; he even knows to sit before I hand him his bowl for breakfast and dinner, though sometimes he is just too excited to sit for long :) He is very social and has been great with my friends - both men and women - who have come to the house. With humans he is an absolute dream. I have loved having him stay with me and am so appreciative of the opportunity to give him a place to stay!”We’d say that’s a rave review if ever there was one, and this sweet, affectionate, and social boy is ready to find his forever home now! Brian Socks has shared his kennel politely and has been tolerant and independent w
