My foster writes:When it comes to Pepper the cat, think banana pepper -- which is to say not very spicy with a lot of sweetness. She'll take a bit of time to ripen to her new environment but once she does, prepare to be met with plenty of head bunts and purrs. She loves looking out windows, playing with ribbon wands, and loafing near people.Pepper appreciates attention and petting but appears to be moderately fearful or stressed in the shelter. She will likely need time to warm up to her new home. We recommend that she go to a home with some cat experience preferred or at least be well counseled in fearful cat behavior. Pepper may be intimidated by small children, any home with older children prepared to adopt this cat should conduct a thorough interaction and endeavor to monitor this cat around their children to prevent these behaviors from being reinforced. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an adult only home.A volunteer writes: Stretching her paws out like a silly ballerina with a twirl and a point to make, Pepper goes big with the paws. As well she should because they are indisputably adorable. She mostly uses them for stretching, reaching, holding, and tapping, but can probably do art or something too. I say this because these magical paws are also her most effective tools for making friends. Pepper tapped my hand and I fell in love. Once she had my attention, Pepper softly nuzzled into me and tried to waltz out of her condo in her search for her forever family, but then settled in for playtime. We played with her pipe cleaner feather and I was delighted when she brought out the paws again. During playtime, she'd reach out to gently tap her toy and my hand. The groove we settled into made me want to spend the whole day with her. We don't know so much about her history because Pepper was brought to us after her person passed away, but we know she is spectacular, has lived with other kitties, and is hoping to find a home where she'll be loved and cherished.
