Dog Name: Tanni Breed: Mix Sex: female Age: approximately 7 years Weight: 80 pounds Medical Needs: Tanni has completed heartworm treatment on February of 2025 and will just need to be rechecked in August. She is prescribed trazodone for anxiety during thunder storms as needed. Housebroken: Yes Crate trained: Yes, happily goes in on command for a treat. She does get FOMO and voice her displeasure if she feels she's missing out on something fun, and her bark is loud, so probably no apartment living for this girl. But she is quiet whenever in her crate on her usual routine, like when I leave for work and when it's time for bed, etc. Good in the car: yes, absolutely loves car rides. Should be tethered in the back or shell try to ride up front with you. Good on a leash: She has gotten 1000x better, I am so proud of her! She no longer pulls the entire walk. She is much more tuned in to me, responds to pressure on her prong collar, will do check ins for treats voluntarily and when asked, which helps with her pulling when she sees another dog. Right now bunnies are her biggest trigger for pulling. She absolutely loves walks and will always go the door, trying to get you to take her out. Energy level: She's a girl who likes her schedule, she likes her two walks a day and a little bit of play time when she first gets out of her crate after the work day, but spends most of the rest of the day snoozing or hanging out with you in the kitchen. She's a little restless if she doesn't get her walks but will settle down after a little while. Once she's fallen asleep on the couch in the evening, she won't budge until you tell her it's time to go in her crate for the night. Need a fenced in yard: Nope, she would much rather go for walks. She is starting to enjoy sun bathing on the deck with the warmer weather. Our yard is very small and I'm sure she would enjoy spending more time outside and sniffing around in a larger yard. Dog Friendly: She is weird with new dogs at first but will adjust after a slow and structured introduction. She can go to areas with other dogs like pet stores and busy towns, she will just start to growl if she gets a dog for more than a few seconds. She has acclimated to living with her foster's two dogs well, but has some resource guarding with food under certain circumstances. She can receive treats and be in the kitchen with the other dogs. She can be a little protective of toys that she views as hers (typically new toys) but we have toys out and it is not an issue for the most part. Once learning her routines and triggers, her resources guarding is not too difficult to manage but does require supervision. She would not do well with any overly assertive, in your face dogs, who would not be able to read her cues. She also likes to be the boss and take things from other dogs. She is also not a dog that you'll just be able to throw into situations with new dogs. If yes, does your foster need another dog in its adoptive homes? No, she would be happy to be the center of attention Cat Friendly? Yes she will ignore them most of the time, but she does get a bit excited and chase them sometimes. Which is scary for the cats because she is so large. Kid Friendly: Has not met many kids in current foster home, but her foster family in Georgia reported that she was good and gentle with kids of all ages. If yes, what's the youngest child you'd recommend they be placed with? I would feel most comfortable saying 10 and up. She is a big girl and does jump and mouth playfully a bit when she is first let out of her crate, and has some resource guarding towards people only with very high value treats. Kids would need to know not to leave any food within her reach as well. Special traits that make your foster special or that we need to know about them? Tanni is a very sweet and loving girl. She lived with a family until her owner passed away and she ended up at a "rescue" in Georgia. It's clear that Tanni is used to the good life and enjoys her couch time, head scratches, and treats. She is also in good shape and health for her age, and seems like she was well cared for. She likes to look out the window and keep watch over the neighborhood. She gets adorable bursts of energy, especially when first let out of her crate, but mostly enjoys cuddling with people on the couch and demanding pets. She loves head scratches, butt scratches, and belly rubs. She will follow you around the house and keep you company. She gets very attached to her people. She has been very loved by every foster family who has cared for her. She is not destructive at all, but make sure you don't leave any food on the counter in her reach, she will snatch it up quicker than you can blink. Tanni is a great traveler. She loves to go for walks and car rides, so she's happy to hang out with you at home or go on an adventure.
