My story

Please contact Maddy Karon (maddyk@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.like the painter but with two gorgeous ears!PICASSO NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!  Name:   Picasso        Best Guess for Breed:   Lab and terrier mix    Best Guess for Age: 2 years as of January 2025       Gender:  Male Approximate Weight: 55 lbs Gets Along With: Picasso does well with other dogs and needs to go to a home with a welcoming resident dog because he is a bit shy. We have not seen him with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!  Currently Living At: DC area foster home. Check out these videos of Picasso: https://youtu.be/tLY9Pd8muEE and https://youtu.be/kXkfxT3b1Qc.  What My Foster Says About Me: Picasso is such a sweetheart and loves nothing more than to hang out with his dog friends or curl up with his foster mom. He is still a little  shy but he has really come far and now greets strangers at the park to ask for treats or pets. Our dogs give him so much additional confidence and he's becoming quite the personality. He can still get startled by sudden noises and unexpected movements near him but it's definitely improved. And he's gained much needed weight and is such a handsome boy. He is a dream in the house, with nice manners and a gentle personality. At the dog park, he loves chasing his friends and being chased with a tennis ball in his mouth. His frisky personality makes everyone smile and people regularly remark on how much he's come out of his shell. He sleeps through the night and has not had any accidents in the house, loves a car ride and walks well on leash. He practices his superb couch potato skills every day. Picasso would thrive in a family willing to smother him in affection and provide a solid routine with lots of playtime. Picasso is Looking For: His forever home! He's eager to have his own humans for long sniffy walks, romps in the park, and all the adventures they can dream up - he's got all that awesome young-dog energy to burn off! Thing is, right now he hasn't seen enough of the world and can be pretty shy. He's hoping for extra patient and loving adopters who will help show him the world at his pace, and a welcoming resident dog who will show him how to dog.He also wants his new humans to know he's completely over all that cubism stuff. Soft rounded things now, please. A cushy dog bed! Better yet, a sofa that he can sink into while curled up against his human! Most of all, though, he wants to know he's safe and loved for all his days and will never again have to wield a paintbrush to earn his living. It's hard getting paint out of his coat! What do you say? Is Picasso the companion you have been seeking? Medical: Picasso was previously heartworm positive, but has gone through treatment and is healthy now! This Lucky Dog got extra lucky and was part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs.  The treatment for him was successful and he now just takes the regular monthly preventatives.   Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. That said, we cannot make any guarantees about age, breed or temperament.  Thank you for contacting Lucky Dog Animal Rescue and helping to save a life!
